Sandra is always available to listen to parents and committed to speaking up for the views and needs of our community. After already serving a term as trustee, she understands how the system works, and, with that experience, will be even better able to advocate for the children and schools in our area.
For four years, I’ve worked with Sandra and know her commitment to our children. You can count on her to champion our community on the public school board. On October 22, re-elect a strong voice as our Zone 12 trustee.
I was Sandra’s opponent when she ran for school board trustee in 2014. This year I am supporting her. I have seen the work she has done and believe she is the best choice for our schools.
Sandra is a dedicated trustee and a passionate advocate for our community schools. She is always available to listen to parents and knows the value of working collaboratively and effectively on our behalf.
As a parent, with a child still in a local school, I think Sandra is well-positioned to understand the needs of our community schools as she is living with the same issues as us parents. As Chair of a School Council, I appreciated the efforts that Sandra made to make herself available to us. She attended Council meetings on her own volition to provide updates on what was happening at the Board and she answered questions from Council members both in person in meetings and by email when asked. When we had issues getting a response on something from the Board, Sandra got us the information we needed. I would not hesitate to vote for Sandra to continue representing our area as a School Board Trustee.
Sandra is a busy and enthusiastic school trustee who truly cares about the students in her area. At the beginning of the 2017 school year, Sandra proactively reached out to us and attended one of the first HMMS monthly council meetings where she gave a Board update. She sought input on how she could help us reach our goals — goals specific to the diverse HMMS student population. She also reconnected with us as summer approached to see if she could attend another meeting. She emphasized her open door policy and encouraged parents to contact her with any questions. In the middle of the year we crossed paths at various community events as well as a high school parent council meeting and Sandra was always eager to hear about any and all school news. Having herself been a student in the Beacon Hill neighbourhood she understands our needs. Given that her daughter is entering HMMS in September, Sandra will certainly be even more deeply connected to our school as a parent!
