School board trustees are elected by public school taxpayers to the school board every four years during municipal elections. Trustees are responsible for setting the school board's overall policy direction and the board's budget, and they represent the interests of the students, the families and the community in these decisions.
The Board of Trustees for the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is made up of 12 trustees elected by zone and 2 student trustees.
